We believe one learns about research by doing research. Our goal is to assist churches, and organisations to effectively serve unreached people groups through research, research training and planning. Though others may see research as an unspiritual exercise, God’s word affirms that the usage of research and information has been God’s strategy from the beginning of creation for example:
The Israelites used the power of information to conquer the promised land, and Luke used research to give a detailed history of the life and ministry of Jesus Christ, and the development of the early church. The result of his research has given us the account of the books of Luke and Acts – something that is used to this day in churches around the world.
Numbers 13: 17 – 20 (NKJV)
Then Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said to them, “Go up this way into the South, and go up to the mountains, and see what the land is like: whether the people who dwell in it are strong or weak, few or many; whether the land they dwell in is good or bad; whether the cities they inhabit are like camps or strongholds; whether the land is rich or poor; and whether there are forests there or not. Be of good courage. And bring some of the fruit of the land.” Now the time was the season of the first ripe grapes.
Joshua 2: 1 – 2 (NKJV)
Now Joshua the son of Nun sent out two men from Acacia Grove to spy secretly, saying, “Go, view the land, especially Jericho.”
So they went, and came to the house of a harlot named Rahab, and lodged there.
And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, “Behold, men have come here tonight from the children of Israel to search out the country.”
Luke 1: 1 – 4 (NKJV)
Inasmuch as many have taken in hand to set in order a narrative of those things which have been fulfilled among us, just as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word delivered them to us, it seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write to you an orderly account, most excellent Theophilus, that you may know the certainty of those things in which you were instructed.
To enhance and equip the church/organizations with information, research training and consultation in strategic planning for effective outreach programmes in urban and rural church planting/evangelism, short and long-term outreach among the unreached people groups, in (especially, but not limited to) Southern Africa.
We are aware that to merely do research ourselves will have little effect in reducing the amount of work in reaching the unreached (unevangelised). We want to share the knowledge we gained with others to assist them do their own research and become more effective in their outreach efforts and ministry.
The Research course has been presented in countries in Southern Africa and some parts of East and West Africa. The course has been presented to Bible Schools, mission organizations, churches and individuals who have a vision to work among the unreached people groups and also working in their local communities.
For church congregations we do offer weekend training
During this week, we present the materials in such a way that participants learn the principles by applying them to the area or target group that they want to reach. We tailor our course presentation to match as closely as possible the needs of those attending. However, weekend trainings are also a possibility. The program has many modules that include:
Biblical perspective on research
Writing a research project proposal
Writing a research report ect.
Is in the end to tailor the training in such a way that the learners, organisations or churches will get the best results in their specific ministries.
